Each court-appointed defense attorney shall receive training on mental illness, available mental health services, eligibility criteria and referral processes, and forensic evaluations as required by SDCL 23A-40-21.
Successful completion of this training will satisfy the training requirements established by law. The attorney’s name will be added to the list of certified court-appointed attorneys, maintained by the State Court Administrator’s office.
